The new term is under way at Capital University of Economics and Business (CUEB, 首都经济贸易大学), and James Foster is delighted to be back in the classroom. As teaching begins on 7 September, it is especially rewarding to recognise so many students from the July–August English for Academic Purposes (EAP) summer camp.

Turning ideas into confident presentations
This term, James is teaching Effective Presentations (EP) to support students’ EAP speaking and presentation skills. The course helps learners plan a clear message, organise their ideas and communicate with an audience—skills they can draw on in seminars, group projects and academic presentations.
Students will work on purposeful openings, clear signposting and effective conclusions, alongside visual aids, spoken delivery and handling questions. Short practice activities build towards longer presentations, with opportunities to reflect on what works and improve the next attempt.
The EduZMS online course complements classroom teaching with practical language, examples and activities students can revisit between lessons. The emphasis is on steady progress: preparing thoughtfully, practising regularly and learning to present ideas in their own words rather than simply reading from a script.
For returning summer camp students, the new term is a chance to build on a familiar learning relationship; for newcomers, it is a fresh start in a supportive classroom. James looks forward to hearing their ideas, encouraging their ambitions and helping every student take the next step in communicating confidently in English.
